Ensure the pipe was fully inserted into the socket and that the seal was clean and undamaged before installation. Re-lubricate and re-insert if necessary. Check for any debris within the socket.

Check that the bolts are not overtightened. Clean any debris from the bolt threads and the cover seating area. Lubricate the seal lightly if needed.

Confirm the pipe is pushed in to the correct depth. If it's a solvent weld joint, check that the solvent cement has fully cured as per instructions. If it's a push-fit, ensure it was fully seated.
