Often referred to as a cleaning eye, it is most commonly installed into a waste tee. Socket plugs can also be used to blank off an unused connection or pipe run. This fitting is available in 32mm, 40mm and 50mm size options, with 50mm only available in grey. This push fit waste system is manufactured in the UK to BS EN 1451 and is British Standard kitemarked. When making a push fit joint, cut the pipe square and remove any burrs, push the pipe into the fitting as far as it will go and then withdraw it by approximately 10mm to allow for any expansion. The joint can be taken apart again if required, but always check that the O ring has not been dislodged from its housing groove in the fitting as this will cause the joint to leak. This product is made to be installed with 32mm push fit fittings, which actually measures 32mm. It cannot be fitted directly into waste pipe as it has no seal and therefore must be fitted into a push fit fitting such as a coupling or bend. If your pipe or existing fittings do not measure 35mm, or has ABS printed on the pipe or fittings, this fitting is not compatible and you will require 36mm solvent weld fittings. This listing is for a Pack of 1 32mm push fit socket plug.

FAQs
What is a socket plug used for?
A socket plug, often called a cleaning eye, is used to gain access into a waste system for inspection and cleaning, or to blank off an unused pipe connection.
Can I fit this directly into my waste pipe?
No, this socket plug has no seal and must be fitted into a compatible push-fit fitting such as a coupling or bend. It cannot be fitted directly into waste pipe.
How do I know if this fitting is compatible with my existing pipes?
This 32mm push-fit fitting is compatible with pipes that measure 32mm and are designed for push-fit systems. It is not compatible with 35mm pipes or fittings, or those marked 'ABS'.
What is the recommended installation method?
Cut the pipe square, remove burrs, push the pipe fully into the fitting, and then withdraw it approximately 10mm to allow for expansion. Ensure the O-ring is correctly seated.
What does 'British Standard kitemarked' mean?
It signifies that the product has been independently tested and certified by the British Standards Institution (BSI) to meet relevant safety and quality standards.
Can I reuse a joint after taking it apart?
Yes, the joints can be taken apart if required. However, always check that the O-ring has not been dislodged from its housing groove, as this can cause leaks.
What sizes are available?
This fitting is available in 32mm, 40mm, and 50mm size options. Note that the 50mm size is only available in grey.
Troubleshooting
Socket plug will not push fully into fitting
Check that the pipe is cut square and free of burrs. Ensure you are using the correct size (32mm) and type (push-fit) of pipe and fitting.
Leak at the push-fit joint
Disassemble the joint and check that the O-ring is correctly seated in its groove within the fitting. Ensure the pipe end is clean and undamaged. Reassemble firmly.
Difficulty removing the joint
Push-fit joints can be stubborn. Ensure the pipe is slightly withdrawn by ~10mm before attempting to disconnect. Specialized pipe removal tools may be helpful.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
Cut the 32mm push-fit pipe squarely. Remove any burrs from the cut end.
Push the pipe firmly into the socket plug fitting as far as it will go.
Withdraw the pipe approximately 10mm to allow for thermal expansion.
Ensure the O-ring within the fitting remains seated in its groove.
Compatibility:
This fitting is designed for 32mm push-fit waste systems. The actual pipe diameter will be 32mm.
It cannot be fitted directly into waste pipe as it lacks a sealing mechanism.
It must be installed into a push-fit fitting, such as a coupling, bend, or tee.
Not compatible with 35mm pipes or fittings, or those marked with 'ABS'. For such systems, 36mm solvent weld fittings are required.
Care:
Periodically check for leaks around the joint.
If accessing for cleaning, ensure the system is clear of excessive debris before opening.
The fitting itself requires minimal maintenance; keep the external surfaces clean with a damp cloth if necessary.
