Setup, Compatibility & Care
For successful establishment, plant bulbs at a depth of 10cm. Choose a location that receives full sun and ensure the soil is light and well-drained. If your soil is heavy clay, mix in organic matter or horticultural grit before planting to ensure water does not sit around the bulb. During the active growth period, you can provide a light, general-purpose fertilizer. Avoid over-watering, especially once the flowers have finished, as the plant enters a period of dormancy where it prefers to stay on the drier side. Do not trim back the foliage until it has turned yellow, as the leaves are necessary for the bulb to store energy for next year's growth.
