FAQs
What is the weight limit for this bed?
While specific weight limits are not provided, the platform-top construction is designed for durable, everyday use. It is recommended for average adult weights. For individuals with higher weight requirements, consulting with a bedding specialist is advised.
Does the mattress require a mattress protector?
Yes, using a mattress protector is highly recommended to safeguard against spills, stains, and allergens, thereby extending the life and maintaining the hygiene of the mattress.
Can I use electric blankets with this mattress?
Yes, electric blankets can be used with this mattress. However, always follow the manufacturer's instructions for the electric blanket, and ensure it is turned off when not in use.
How often should I rotate the mattress?
As the mattress is single-sided, it needs to be rotated from head to toe every 3-6 months to ensure even wear and maintain consistent support across the surface.
What is the difference between this and a divan set with drawers?
This set features a platform-top base with gliders for easy repositioning and floor protection. Divan sets with drawers include built-in storage compartments within the base, which may slightly alter the base's overall stability and appearance.
What kind of support does the open-coil spring system offer?
The open-coil system provides a uniformly supportive surface. It is a durable and cost-effective spring system, offering a good balance of comfort and support suitable for general use.
Troubleshooting
Bed creaks or makes noise
Ensure all bolts and fittings on the divan base and headboard are securely tightened. Check that the mattress is evenly placed on the base.
Mattress feels too firm/soft
The mattress has a medium comfort rating. If it feels too firm, try sleeping on it for a few weeks to allow it to break in. If it consistently feels too soft or too firm, consider a mattress topper or a different mattress model.
Divan base feels unstable
Verify that the base sections are correctly joined and secured. Ensure the chrome gliders are firmly attached to the base corners.
Fabric on base is dirty
Gently clean the affected area with a damp cloth and mild soap. Blot the area to dry and avoid soaking the fabric.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: The divan base typically arrives in sections and requires assembly, usually involving connecting the base halves and attaching the headboard. The mattress is ready to be placed on the base. It is recommended to have two people for assembly, especially when positioning the headboard. Ensure the floor is clear before starting.
Compatibility: The Pemberton Divan Set is designed to accommodate standard UK double mattresses. The platform top is compatible with all mattress types, including memory foam, hybrid, and traditional spring mattresses. The included mattress is single-sided, meaning it is designed to be rotated (head to foot) but not flipped.
Care:
- Base: Wipe the fabric base with a clean, damp cloth. Avoid harsh detergents. Use a vacuum cleaner with an upholstery attachment for regular cleaning.
- Mattress: Rotate the mattress regularly (every 3-6 months) from head to toe to ensure even wear. Spot clean minor spills with a mild detergent and water, blotting gently. Ensure the mattress is dry before placing bedding back on. Protect the mattress with a mattress protector for longevity.
