The Woodpeckers 641 and 851 Squares offer the features of their best-selling 1281 model in more convenient sizes, easily carried in your shop apron. Unlike most squares, these feature a one-piece central core precisely machined to be within +/-.0085° of 90° or better. Precision-machined cheeks are pinned flush with the base and 1/4" back from the inside edge, creating a shoulder that holds the square registered to your material without assistance. These squares are ideal for setting up machines, laying out joinery, and checking parts during assembly. Crafted from a solid piece of stable, cast aluminum tool plate, these squares are meticulously machined on state-of-the-art CNC equipment, resulting in a single-piece ruler and handle square. This process ensures accuracy to within .001 inch or less along the entire tool length. Two precision-machined aluminum cheeks are attached to the handle with stainless steel dowel pins, providing exceptional rigidity and perfect alignment. This construction method surpasses squares made with separate ruler and handle parts or those produced by stamping. The inside edge of the square’s handle includes a shoulder, allowing it to lay flat on workpieces for accurate marking along either edge of the ruler. The thick base enables the ruler to stand upright for checking the squareness of table saw blades, jointer fences, band saw blades, and other machinery setups. When standing upright, checking casework parts for square becomes an effortless, hands-free operation. A notch is milled at the inside corner to "zero-out" layout lines right at the edge of the work. Measurement scales are laser etched in 1/16th increments on both sides of the ruler and are easy to read. Includes a Rack-It wall mount. Made in the USA.
