Setup, Compatibility & Care
To install, start by drilling a hole into the masonry that matches the diameter of the bolt shield. Clear the hole of all dust and debris using a brush or blower; loose material can prevent the expansion shield from creating a flush, secure seal. Insert the anchor and use the appropriate size spanner or socket to tighten the nut. As you tighten, the internal cone pulls into the shield, causing it to expand. Avoid overtightening, as this can crack weaker masonry types. Periodically inspect the bolts for signs of mechanical looseness if used in high-vibration areas, and check the yellow passivated finish for any scratches that might require a touch-up with anti-corrosive spray.
