This 5mm foil-backed underlay is designed for homeowners and contractors looking to improve the acoustic and thermal performance of laminate, engineered wood, solid wood, and vinyl flooring. It provides a robust foundation by combining damp-proof moisture protection with significant sound insulation, effectively reducing impact noise. While it excels in moisture-heavy environments, users should note that at 5mm thick, it may require checking door clearance before installation to ensure the floor height does not obstruct movement.

While this underlay provides thermal insulation, you should verify that your specific heating system is compatible with a 0.7 tog rated product.
No, the integrated foil layer acts as a built-in damp-proof membrane, eliminating the need for an additional plastic moisture barrier.
No, this product is specifically designed for hard flooring surfaces like laminate, wood, and vinyl.
Use a high-quality moisture-resistant adhesive tape to join the edges of the underlay sections.
This product comes with a 25-year warranty against manufacturing defects.
Yes, it is highly recommended for concrete subfloors due to its damp-proof properties.
Ensure the subfloor was sufficiently leveled before installation; if gaps are too large, the underlay may sink into them.
Check that the seams between the underlay strips are not overlapping, as this creates localized high spots that prevent the floor from sitting flat.
Verify that all joints and seams were properly sealed with moisture-resistant tape and ensure the subfloor was fully cured before the underlay was applied.
Before laying the underlay, ensure the subfloor is clean, dry, and level. Unroll the underlay across the room, ensuring the edges are butted tightly together rather than overlapping, as overlaps will create ridges under your flooring. Seal the seams using appropriate moisture-resistant adhesive tape to maintain the integrity of the damp-proof membrane. The underlay is fully compatible with most modern click-lock flooring systems. For care, keep the material away from high heat sources and avoid puncturing the foil layer during installation, as this will compromise the moisture barrier. The 25-year warranty covers the material against manufacturing defects under normal residential usage.
