Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: This brush requires no specific setup beyond ensuring it is clean and free of any manufacturing dust. For best results with new brushes, some users prefer to comb out loose bristles.
Compatibility: This brush is specifically designed for heavy-bodied and low VOC coatings. It performs exceptionally well on textured surfaces such as stucco, rough-sawn lumber, brickwork, and other challenging, uneven materials. It is less ideal for very thin paints or delicate, smooth finishes where a softer bristle might be preferred.
Care: To maintain the brush's performance:
- Cleaning: Immediately after use, remove excess paint by wiping on the edge of the paint can. Use the appropriate solvent for cleanup (water for latex/water-based paints, mineral spirits or appropriate thinner for oil-based paints). Work the solvent through the bristles gently.
- Rinsing: Rinse thoroughly with clean water (for latex) or solvent until water/solvent runs clear.
- Shaping: Gently reshape the bristles to their original form. Remove excess water or solvent by pulling the brush along a clean, dry surface or by using a brush comb.
- Drying: Store the brush bristles-up in a clean, dry place. Do not store it resting on the bristles. Ensure the brush is completely dry before storing it long-term.
