Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: The Sealey Tinman's Shears come ready for immediate use. Ensure the blades are clean and free of any packing material before the first cut.
Compatibility: These shears are specifically designed for cutting narrow gauge ferrous and non-ferrous metal sheet up to 0.8mm thickness. They are not suitable for cutting wire, plastic, or thicker metals.
Care:
- Cleaning: After each use, wipe the blades clean with a dry cloth to remove metal filings and debris. For stubborn residue, use a lightly oiled cloth.
- Lubrication: Periodically apply a light machine oil to the pivot point and blades to ensure smooth operation and prevent rust.
- Storage: Store the shears in a dry environment. Consider using a blade guard or closing the jaws and securing them to protect the cutting edges.
- Sharpening: If cutting performance diminishes, the blades can be sharpened using a fine-grit whetstone or file, following the original bevel angle.
