Setup, Compatibility & Care
Getting started with your MAM Original Soothers is simple, and proper care will ensure their longevity and your child's safety.
Initial Setup
Before first use, always clean and sterilize the soothers. This removes any manufacturing residues and ensures optimal hygiene.
- Wash: Wash thoroughly with warm water and mild dish soap.
- Sterilize: Sterilize using one of the recommended methods:
- Boiling: Place soothers in boiling water for 5 minutes. Ensure sufficient water to prevent damage.
- Steam Sterilizer: Use a commercial steam sterilizer according to its instructions.
- Microwave Sterilizer Box: If your MAM 2-pack includes a sterilizer box (Info needed: check packaging), add 25ml of water to the box, place soothers inside, and microwave for 3 minutes at 750-1000W. Let cool for 5 minutes.
Compatibility
- Age: Designed specifically for toddlers 16 months and older.
- Accessories: Compatible with standard MAM soother clips to prevent loss.
Care & Maintenance
- Daily Cleaning: After each use, wash the soother with warm water and mild soap. Rinse thoroughly.
- Regular Sterilization: Sterilize soothers daily, or more frequently if your child has been unwell.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect the soother for any signs of wear, tears, discoloration, or stickiness. Pull the nipple in all directions to check for damage.
- Replacement: Replace soothers every 1-2 months for hygiene and safety, or sooner if any signs of damage or wear are visible. Do not use for longer than 4 hours continuously.
- Storage: Store clean, dry soothers in a hygienic, covered container, away from direct sunlight or heat.
Safety Note: Never dip the nipple in sweet substances (e.g., honey or jam) as this can lead to tooth decay. Never tie the soother around your child's neck as it presents a strangulation hazard.
