UniBond Silicone Sealant - Grey - 280ml

Acetoxy cure silicones, like this one, release acetic acid (vinegar smell) during curing and are known for their excellent adhesion to non-porous surfaces and strong mould resistance. Neutral cure silicones have a less pungent odor and are often better for sensitive materials or porous surfaces.

The sealant typically skins over within minutes and is fully waterproof and ready for use after approximately 24 hours, depending on temperature and humidity levels.

Silicone sealants are generally not paintable. It is best to apply the sealant after painting or use a paintable sealant if covering is required.

It adheres well without primer to glass, ceramics, painted surfaces, anodized aluminium, and most common sanitary fixtures.

Old silicone can be carefully cut away with a sharp knife or specialized sealant removal tool. Any residue can often be softened with a silicone remover product before wiping clean.

Coverage is approximately 11 meters when a 5mm bead is applied.

While designed for kitchens and bathrooms, its waterproof and durable properties may allow for some exterior applications. However, it is primarily formulated for interior wet environments. Always test in an inconspicuous area for exterior suitability.

Ensure the cartridge is correctly loaded into the sealant gun and the trigger mechanism is engaged properly. Check if the inner seal has been pierced.

Practice applying steady pressure to the sealant gun. Use a damp cloth or smoothing tool immediately after application to achieve a neat finish. Try cutting the nozzle at an angle for better control.

Ensure the surface is completely clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, or old sealant. Test adhesion on a small, inconspicuous area if unsure about surface compatibility.

Ensure the underlying surface is completely dry before applying the sealant. This product is mould-resistant, but it cannot prevent mould growth if the area remains excessively damp or if mould spores are already present beneath the seal.
