Setup, Compatibility & Care
Tomato 'Premio' F1 is an indoor cordon variety. For best results, sow seeds indoors or in a greenhouse from late February to April.
Planting and Support:
- Sow seeds in pots or trays filled with seed compost.
- Transplant seedlings into larger pots or directly into greenhouse borders when they are large enough to handle.
- Provide sturdy support such as canes or strings as the plants grow vertically.
- Plant in well-drained soil or compost, ideally in a sunny, sheltered spot.
Care Instructions:
- Watering: Water regularly, especially during dry periods, ensuring the soil remains consistently moist but not waterlogged.
- Feeding: Feed with a high-potash fertilizer once the first fruits start to set.
- Pruning: Crucially, pinch out side shoots that appear in the leaf axils regularly. This directs the plant's energy into fruit production and main stem growth.
- Pollination: In a greenhouse, you can assist pollination by tapping the wires or gently shaking the plants.
Compatibility:
This variety is highly compatible with container gardening, suitable for pots, greenhouses, patios, and small gardens. It thrives in sunny, sheltered locations.
