Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: No specific setup is required. The Bahco Round File is ready for immediate use upon unpacking. Ensure you have a secure grip on the file handle (if attached) or the tang for safe operation.
Compatibility: This file is compatible with various materials, including mild steel, aluminum, brass, copper, plastics, and most hardwoods. Avoid using on hardened steel or ceramics, as this can damage the file teeth.
Care: To maintain performance and extend the life of the file:
- Clean Regularly: Use a file card or a stiff brush to remove metal filings and debris after each use. Accumulated debris can dull the teeth and reduce cutting efficiency.
- Store Properly: Store the file in a dry environment, ideally in a tool roll or separate compartment to prevent contact with other tools that could damage the teeth.
- Avoid Striking: Do not use the file to strike or pry objects, as this can break the file.
- Inspect for Wear: Periodically check the teeth for signs of wear or damage. Replace the file if teeth become excessively dull or chipped.
