DMC Etoile Mouline Thread is an essential choice for embroidery enthusiasts looking to add a subtle, sophisticated sparkle to their needlework projects. Combining 73% long-staple Egyptian cotton with 27% metallic polyamide, this six-strand floss offers both the softness of traditional thread and a unique, shimmering finish that elevates standard designs. While it provides excellent texture and vibrancy, users should note that blending metallic components with cotton requires slightly more tension management compared to standard 100% cotton threads.

Yes, Etoile is perfect for cross-stitch and can be used on its own or blended with traditional cotton floss for a subtle effect.
It is recommended to hand wash finished embroidery to ensure the longevity of the metallic fibres.
The skein contains six strands, which can be separated just like standard DMC embroidery floss.
The metallic component is durable but benefits from shorter working lengths to avoid wear and tear.
DMC Etoile comes in a specific range of shades designed to complement the classic DMC color palette.
Use shorter lengths of thread and ensure your needle eye is polished and free of burrs.
Pull the strands one at a time slowly rather than trying to separate the whole bunch at once.
When preparing your project, ensure you use a needle with a large enough eye to accommodate the strand count without stripping the metallic coating. If the thread begins to twist during stitching, simply let your needle hang freely to allow the thread to untwist naturally. For care, finished projects should be washed gently by hand in lukewarm water with mild detergent to preserve the shimmer. Avoid aggressive wringing or high-heat ironing directly on the stitched areas; instead, press the back of the work on a soft towel using a low-heat setting.
