Yes, the washers are suitable for various pneumatic applications due to their high-performance compression properties.
These washers are designed to create a seal through compression; thread seal tape is generally used for threaded joints, while these act as internal seat gaskets.
Ensure the washer is seated perfectly flat and the metal mating surfaces are clean of debris or mineral scale.
Check that the washer is the correct size for the specific valve seat and avoid using excessive force when tightening the connection.
Ensure the old washer or any remnants of its adhesive are completely removed from the seat before installing the new unit.
To install the washer, first shut off the water supply to the fixture. Disassemble the tap or valve housing and remove the old, degraded washer. Ensure the metal seating surface is cleaned of any grit or calcium buildup. Place the ReallyRecycle Flat Rubber Washer into the housing, ensuring it sits perfectly flat to avoid uneven compression. Reassemble the components and tighten firmly, but avoid overtightening, as the flexible nature of the material is designed to seal with moderate pressure. No specialized maintenance is required; however, periodic inspection for debris buildup during plumbing maintenance is recommended.
