It features a two-piece cast iron housing, a wooden handle, and all parts are interchangeable. With a head diameter of 60mm, it is perfect for precision work. Offering an insert combination of rubber composition / superplastic, the SIMPLEX series 3027 is an indispensable companion for a large number of applications and Halder's top-selling combination. Ultra low-wear, impact cushioning and odourless, the medium hard rubber insert (series 3202) offers a much longer service life than a conventional rubber hammer. The superplastic insert (series 3207) allows for a more powerful impact force than the rubber insert. It is a medium hard plastic insert made of extruded and extremely homogeneous material. Made of cast iron, the housing comes with an integrated handle protection sleeve that provides for a high level of break resistance. Damping vibrations and shaped ergonomically, the high-quality wooden handle has a double coat of varnish in the grip area and is thus resistant to dirt. In line with the smart SIMPLEX principle, all components are replaceable and can be retrofitted. This translates to savings in both money and resources. FAQs
What is the main difference between the rubber and superplastic inserts?
The rubber insert (black, medium-hard) is impact-cushioning, odourless, and low-wear, ideal for sensitive surfaces. The superplastic insert (white, medium-hard) is very durable and allows for a more powerful impact, suitable for tougher tasks where wear resistance is paramount.
Can I replace just the inserts?
Yes, all parts of the Halder Simplex mallet are designed to be replaceable and retrofittable, including the inserts. This extends the tool's life and is more economical.
What materials are the hammer head and handle made of?
The hammer head housing is made of cast iron, and the handle is made of high-quality wood with a protective varnish in the grip area.
Is this hammer suitable for heavy demolition?
While durable, the 60mm head size and its insert combination are optimized for precision work and general construction tasks. For heavy demolition, a larger, more specialized hammer might be more appropriate.
How do I clean the hammer?
Wipe the inserts with a damp cloth and mild soap if necessary. Clean the wooden handle with a damp cloth and ensure it is dried properly. Avoid soaking or using harsh chemicals.
What applications are best suited for this specific 60mm model?
This 60mm model is excellent for gardening and landscaping, paving, curbstone setting, carpenters' work, and light assembly tasks where precise force is needed.
Where can I find replacement parts?
Replacement parts, such as inserts and handles, can typically be sourced through authorized Halder distributors or specialized tool retailers.
Troubleshooting
Hammer head feels loose
Ensure the two halves of the cast iron housing are securely tightened. If the issue persists, check the integrity of the housing components.
Inserts are not striking effectively
Verify that the correct inserts (rubber or superplastic) are being used for the task. Check for excessive wear on the inserts and replace if necessary.
Wooden handle shows signs of splintering
Discontinue use immediately and replace the handle. Ensure the handle is not being used as a lever, which can cause damage.
Reduced impact force from superplastic insert
The superplastic insert is designed for durable, powerful impacts. If force is reduced, check for damage or excessive wear and replace the insert.
