Product Information

Full details

The Sloomy Mayfair Plush Divan Set is designed for individuals seeking a comfortable and supportive sleeping surface with a touch of elegant bedroom decor. Its key benefit is the combination of a robust platform-top base for consistent mattress support and a stylish Chesterfield headboard. A potential caveat is that the included mattress is best suited for occasional use or spare rooms due to its open-coil spring system, which may not offer the same long-term durability or advanced pressure relief as higher-end mattress types.

FAQs

What is the comfort level of the included mattress?

The included mattress offers a balanced medium comfort rating, designed to suit a wide range of sleepers.

How often should I turn the mattress?

It is recommended to turn (flip over) and rotate (head-to-foot) the mattress approximately once a month to ensure even wear and longevity.

What fabric options are available for the divan base?

The divan set is available in premium fabrics including Plush Velvet, Naples, Coniston, and Dumfries, with a variety of color choices.

Does the divan set require assembly?

Yes, the divan base typically requires some assembly to connect its sections and attach the chrome gliders. The headboard also needs to be attached to the base.

What is the warranty period for the mattress?

The mattress comes with a 1-year manufacturer's guarantee.

Can I use my existing mattress with the Sloomy divan base?

Yes, the platform-top divan base is compatible with most standard mattress types, providing a stable foundation.

What are the dimensions of the headboard?

The headboard is a 54-inch strutted design, offering a substantial presence.

Troubleshooting

Divan base is uneven or wobbles.

Ensure all connection points of the divan base are securely fastened. Check that the chrome gliders are fully and evenly screwed in. If the floor is uneven, minor adjustments to the gliders may be needed.

Headboard is loose or unstable.

Verify that all bolts and screws connecting the headboard to the divan base are tightened securely. Ensure the headboard struts are properly aligned and fixed.

Mattress feels too firm or too soft.

The mattress has a medium comfort rating. If it feels too firm, try sleeping on it for a few weeks to allow it to 'settle'. Using a mattress topper can also adjust the feel. If it feels too soft, ensure the divan base is providing adequate, even support and that the mattress is correctly positioned.

Difficulty turning the mattress.

As the mattress does not have handles, use the grip points on the side panels of the mattress or ask for assistance. Ensure you are rotating head-to-foot and flipping it over regularly for even wear.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Offers excellent stability and consistent mattress support with the platform-top base.
  • Handcrafted in the UK, ensuring high standards of build quality and durability.
  • Enhances bedroom aesthetics with a stylish, classic Chesterfield headboard design.
  • Provides flexibility in customization with a choice of premium fabrics and colors.
  • Chrome gliders protect flooring and facilitate easy bed movement.

Cons

  • The included mattress is rated medium and uses an open-coil spring system, which may be less durable or offer less pressure relief for daily, heavy use compared to pocket-sprung mattresses.
  • The mattress is single-sided and requires regular turning/rotating to maintain its condition.
  • The mattress does not feature handles, making rotation potentially more challenging.
  • The 1-year manufacturer's guarantee on the mattress is relatively short compared to some premium options.
  • While the base is durable, the mattress suitability is best for spare rooms or occasional use.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup:

  1. Assembly: The divan base typically comes in sections that need to be joined together. Attach the chrome gliders to the designated points on the base.
  2. Headboard Attachment: Align the headboard with the pre-drilled holes on the divan base and secure it using the provided screws and bolts. The strutted design allows for adjustable height.
  3. Mattress Placement: Carefully place the mattress onto the platform-top base, ensuring it is centered and fits within the divan sides.

Compatibility:

  • Mattress Type: The platform-top base is designed to work optimally with the included open-coil mattress. It can also accommodate most other mattress types, including memory foam and pocket-sprung, but always check manufacturer recommendations.
  • Room Size: Available in Double, King, and Super King sizes, ensure adequate space in your bedroom.

Care:

  • Divan Base: Wipe the fabric with a slightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or excessive moisture. Vacuum regularly using an upholstery attachment to remove dust.
  • Mattress: Rotate and turn the mattress regularly (e.g., monthly) to ensure even wear. Use a mattress protector to guard against spills and stains. Spot clean minor marks with a mild detergent and damp cloth, allowing it to air dry completely. Do not bleach or machine wash.
