Choose the sink rate based on the depth of the water and the depth at which the fish are feeding. Sink 3 for shallow water, Sink 5, Sink 6 or Sink 7 for deeper water.

Match the line weight to your rod's specifications. The RIO Premier Fathom Sinking Fly Line is available in WF6-WF8 sizes.

Rinse the line with fresh water after each use and store it in a cool, dry place. Apply line dressing periodically.

While it can be used in saltwater, rinse it thoroughly with fresh water after each use to prevent salt buildup.

Use a sinking or intermediate tip leader, or a floating leader with a sinking tippet. Fluorocarbon tippet is recommended.

Sinking lines tend to load the rod more during the cast. Allow the line to load the rod properly before casting.

This can happen if the line has memory from being stored on a reel for an extended time. You can try stretching the line before use.

Check if the correct sink rate has been selected for the conditions, and allow the line more time to sink before retrieving. Ensure the leader is not too buoyant.

Check your casting technique. Sinking lines require a slightly different approach than floating lines. Avoid excessive false casting and ensure a smooth, controlled stroke. Check the line for any tangles or knots.
