The Stabilus 882232 Gas Spring is designed for automotive enthusiasts and DIY mechanics looking to restore smooth, reliable movement to their vehicle's hatch, trunk, or hood components. This gas spring provides a consistent eject force of 135N, ensuring effortless lifting and secure positioning, though users should ensure the specific force rating and dimensions match their vehicle's original manufacturer specifications to avoid improper fitment or operational issues.

It is highly recommended to replace gas springs in pairs to ensure even lifting pressure and avoid twisting or misalignment of the hatch/hood.
Check the extended length (501mm) and the stroke (200mm) against your current unit, and verify that the eject force (135N) matches your vehicle's requirement.
Usually, no. The ends are designed to move freely. If the joint is squeaky, a very light application of silicone-based lubricant is sufficient.
135N refers to the Newtons of force the spring exerts to push outward. This is the calculated force needed to support the specific weight of your vehicle's panel.
Yes, gas springs are temperature-sensitive. They may feel slightly stiffer in extreme cold and slightly softer in extreme heat.
Verify that you have installed the correct number of gas springs; some vehicles require a pair to support the full weight.
Ensure the retaining clip on the strut end is fully retracted and that the ball stud is clean and free of corrosion.
Installation generally involves removing the old retaining clips on the existing strut mounts and snapping the new Stabilus 882232 unit into place. Before installation, clean the mounting ball studs of any debris or old grease. Ensure that you verify the MPN 882232 against your vehicle's service manual, as gas springs are force-specific; using an incorrect rating can cause the door or hood to stay open too firmly or fail to support the weight entirely. Maintain the unit by occasionally wiping the piston rod with a clean, dry cloth to prevent dust buildup, but avoid using heavy lubricants that could attract dirt to the seals.
