Create stain-resistant coating for natural slate surfaces with the StoneCare4U Essential Matt Fini...Create stain-resistant coating for natural slate surfaces with the StoneCare4U Essential Matt Finish Slate Sealer. This quick-drying formula is a high-performance stone sealer formulated especially for external natural slate surfaces. Also suitable for other porous natural stones such as sandstone and limestone. It provides excellent water repellence and long-lasting protection. Once sealed, the attractive matt finish helps to prevent efflorescence, green growth and algae growth and creates a self-cleaning surface tension that reduces the need for regular maintenance. How to apply: Before use, remove any loose debris from the work surface and ensure adequate safety wear, i.e. gloves, suitable protective eyewear, face mask and clothing. Leave the surface for a minimum of 72 hours with clear and dry weather to ensure the surface is completely dry and ready to be sealed. Application temperature range: 13 degrees to 23 degrees Celsius. Before application, the surface must be completely clean and dry. Application methods include a low-pressure sprayer, roller, natural fibre brush or sponge. Apply Essential Slate Sealer Matt (dry) Finish, to saturation, two coats “wet on wet” are needed to ensure complete coverage. Do not dilute. Surface dry after 45 to 60 minutes. If rain is forecast or starts, then stop treatment immediately and cover the freshly impregnated areas, the surface is required to stay completely dry for the first 6 hours after application. Please note: This matt dry finish may cause a change of colour on some surfaces - always try the product in an inconspicuous area prior to use. Surfaces that are not to be sealed should be protected with masking material. Not recommended for use on highly polished, ceramic, glazed dense or non-porous surfaces. Clean sealed areas with a mild, pH-neutral cleaner or a very low concentration of our outdoor cleaner range. Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents as this can have a negative effect on the treated surface. Coverage: Apply the Essential Slate Sealer Matt (dry) Finish undiluted, up to 15m2 per litre per coat. Coverage will vary depending on the type of surface application.
The StoneCare4U Essential Matt Finish Slate Sealer is designed for homeowners and professionals seeking to protect and enhance natural slate, sandstone, and limestone exterior surfaces. It creates a durable, stain-resistant, matt finish that repels water, prevents efflorescence and green growth, and offers long-lasting protection with reduced maintenance. A key caveat is its potential to alter the color of some surfaces, requiring a test in an inconspicuous area before full application.

FAQs
Can I apply this sealer on indoor slate tiles?
This product is specifically formulated for external natural slate surfaces. For internal surfaces, please refer to products designed for indoor use to ensure compatibility and desired finish.
How long does the protection last?
The protection is long-lasting, but the exact duration depends on environmental factors, foot traffic, and cleaning methods. Periodic inspection and reapplication may be necessary over time.
What is the coverage rate?
The coverage is up to 15m² per litre per coat. Two coats are recommended, and actual coverage can vary based on the porosity and texture of the specific stone surface.
Can I apply this product on a damp day?
No, it is critical that the surface is completely dry before application, and remains dry for at least 6 hours afterward. Application should only occur during dry weather conditions and within the specified temperature range.
What should I do if it rains shortly after application?
If rain is forecast or starts, stop treatment immediately and cover the freshly impregnated areas. The surface requires a minimum of 6 hours of dryness after the final coat.
How do I clean the sealed surface?
Clean sealed areas with a mild, pH-neutral cleaner or a very dilute solution of an outdoor cleaner. Avoid using harsh or abrasive cleaning agents, as they can negatively affect the treated surface.
Will this product make my stone shiny?
No, this sealer is designed to provide an attractive matt, dry finish, maintaining the natural look of the stone without adding shine.
Troubleshooting
Sealer is not providing expected water repellence.
Ensure two "wet on wet" coats were applied to saturation. The surface may have been inadequately prepared or not completely dry before application. Reapply following all preparation and application instructions.
White powdery residue (efflorescence) reappears.
This can indicate moisture still migrating through the stone. Ensure the surface was completely dry for 72 hours prior to application and remained dry for 6 hours after. If moisture persists, further investigation into ground dampness may be needed.
Surface appears darker or has a color change.
This is noted as a potential effect. Always test in an inconspicuous area first. If the color change is undesirable, reapplication of sealer is not recommended to reverse the effect. Future treatments might use a different product if available and compatible.
Uneven finish or application marks.
Ensure consistent application using the recommended methods (sprayer, roller, brush). Avoid over-application in certain areas. For existing issues, gentle cleaning might slightly even the appearance, but a full re-application might be needed if severe.
Green growth or algae is still visible.
The sealer helps prevent new growth by repelling moisture. Existing growth should be cleaned off before application. Regular cleaning with a mild cleaner will help maintain the appearance.

Setup, Compatibility & Care Instructions
Preparation is Key:
Ensure the work surface is free from loose debris.
Always wear appropriate safety gear: gloves, protective eyewear, a face mask, and suitable clothing.
Wait for a minimum of 72 hours of clear, dry weather before application to ensure the surface is completely dry.
The ideal application temperature range is between 13°C and 23°C.
Protect any surfaces not intended for sealing using masking materials.
Application Process:
Ensure the surface is completely clean and dry.
Do NOT dilute the sealer.
Apply using a low-pressure sprayer, roller, natural fibre brush, or sponge.
Apply the sealer "wet on wet" for two coats to achieve complete saturation and coverage.
The surface will be dry to touch in 45 to 60 minutes.
Crucial: If rain is forecast or begins during application, stop immediately and cover the treated areas. The surface must remain completely dry for at least 6 hours post-application.
Test First: Due to potential color changes on some surfaces, always test the product in an inconspicuous area before full application.
Compatibility:
Suitable for: Natural slate, sandstone, limestone, and other porous natural stones.
NOT Recommended for: Highly polished, ceramic, glazed, dense, or non-porous surfaces.
Care and Cleaning:
Clean sealed areas using a mild, pH-neutral cleaner.
A very low concentration of an outdoor cleaner range may also be used.
Avoid harsh or abrasive cleaning agents, as these can damage the treated surface.
