ProRep Beardie Life Substrate - 10kg
Beardie LIFE has been designed specifically to mimic the desert environment of Bearded Dragons. It...Beardie LIFE has been designed specifically to mimic the desert environment of Bearded Dragons. It mixes sand with a soil substrate to create a more natural enclosure than pure sand, which is quite rare in the wild. This substrate is realistic in both its look and feel, and encourages more natural behaviour from your pet, such as the ability to dig and forage efficiently. The risks of impaction are also lower than a pure sand substrate, meaning your Bearded Dragon is healthier, as well as happier. The soil part of the mixture also means that there is a higher humidity content in the substrate, which is more natural for your pet. As often they deeper they dig into a substrate, the more humid it should be, which is not the case for the pure sands often used for reptiles. The recreation of a burrow or underground hide will help with seasonal changes such as breeding, as well as shedding. This can be achieved by spraying a specific area or burrow, to create a localised damp area, as would be experienced in the wild. Directions: Simply spread across the floor of the enclosure, using rocks or other decor to create natural hides and burrows. For animals that prefer to dig, provide a deeper level of substrate. Live plants can be used, ideally best kept in their pots rather than being transplanted into the substrate.
This guide is for reptile owners who want to provide a natural and enriching environment for their Bearded Dragons. ProRep Beardie Life Substrate mimics the desert environment, encouraging natural behaviors and promoting better health. Keep in mind that while it reduces impaction risks compared to pure sand, regular monitoring of your dragon's health is still essential.

FAQs
How much substrate do I need?
The amount depends on the size of your enclosure and the desired substrate depth. Aim for at least 2-4 inches of substrate, and possibly more for a larger dragon.
How often should I clean the substrate?
Spot clean daily or as needed. Replace the entire substrate every 2-4 months, or sooner if necessary.
Can I use this substrate with other reptiles?
ProRep Beardie Life is specifically designed for Bearded Dragons. While it may be suitable for other desert-dwelling reptiles, it's best to research your specific pet's needs.
Can I use live plants with this substrate?
Yes, live plants are compatible. It is recommended to keep them in pots within the substrate.
How do I create a damp area for shedding?
Spray a specific section of the substrate to create a localized damp area where the dragon can shed comfortably.
Is this substrate safe if my dragon eats it?
ProRep Beardie Life is designed to minimize impaction risks, but it is not recommended that your dragon eats a large quantity of the substrate. If this happens, monitor your dragon's health, and contact a vet if you have any concerns.
Where can I buy ProRep Beardie Life Substrate?
ProRep Beardie Life Substrate is available at most pet stores and online retailers specializing in reptile supplies.
Troubleshooting
Substrate appears dry.
Mist the substrate with water to increase humidity in the enclosure. You can also create a localized damp area.

Ensure the substrate depth is sufficient for digging. Add more substrate if necessary.
Enclosure smells bad.
Remove any soiled substrate and spot-clean the area. Replace the substrate if the odor persists.
Difficulty maintaining humidity.
Increase the frequency of misting or the size of the water dish. Ensure proper ventilation to prevent excessive dryness.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
Enclosure Preparation: Spread ProRep Beardie Life across the bottom of your Bearded Dragon's enclosure. The depth of the substrate should be appropriate for your dragon's size and digging preferences.
Decor Placement: Arrange rocks, branches, and other decor to create hides and visual barriers. This will allow your dragon to feel secure.
Humidity Control: Monitor humidity levels and adjust as needed. You can create a localized damp area by spraying a section of the substrate. Ensure that there is a gradient of humidity.
Cleaning: Regularly spot clean the substrate to remove waste. Replace the substrate entirely as needed, typically every 2-4 months or when it becomes heavily soiled.
Compatibility: Suitable for most Bearded Dragon enclosures. Compatible with live plants (ideally in pots).
Water: Always provide fresh, clean water in a shallow dish.
