Setup, Compatibility & Care
Compatibility:
Before purchasing, verify that the Walker 235-1044 Crankshaft Pulse Sensor is compatible with your specific vehicle make, model, and year. Check the OEM part numbers it replaces: 71739685 for ALFA ROMEO and FIAT, and 12789959 for OPEL, SAAB, VAUXHALL, CHEVROLET, GENERAL MOTORS, CITROËN/PEUGEOT, and SATURN vehicles.
Setup:
- Safety First: Ensure the engine is cool and the battery is disconnected before starting any work.
- Locate Sensor: The crankshaft position sensor is typically located on or near the engine block, often close to the flywheel or crankshaft pulley.
- Remove Old Sensor: Disconnect the electrical connector and unbolt the old sensor.
- Install New Sensor: Lightly lubricate the O-ring (if applicable) and install the new Walker 235-1044 sensor, tightening the mounting bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque.
- Reconnect Connector: Plug the electrical connector firmly into the new sensor.
- Reconnect Battery: Reconnect the vehicle's battery.
- Test: Start the engine and check for proper operation. Clear any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) with an OBD-II scanner.
Care:
Crankshaft pulse sensors are generally maintenance-free components. However, it is advisable to keep the sensor area clean from excessive dirt and oil to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Regular engine bay cleaning can help prevent debris buildup.
