The Estwing 20oz Leather Grip Claw Hammer is designed for professional tradespeople and serious DIY enthusiasts who require a reliable tool for framing, general carpentry, and repair work. Featuring a single-piece forged steel construction, it provides exceptional durability and the perfect balance of striking power for heavy-duty tasks. While the genuine leather grip offers superior shock absorption and a secure hold, users should note that leather handles require occasional maintenance to prevent drying or cracking compared to synthetic rubber grips.

No. Because it is made of solid steel, it conducts electricity. It should never be used on live electrical circuits.
While durable, the leather grip is not user-replaceable. If the handle becomes severely compromised, contact the manufacturer or a professional tool restorer.
The 20oz weight provides more driving force than lighter hammers, making it ideal for framing and heavy construction.
While leather provides excellent grip under most conditions, it is best to keep the handle dry to maintain maximum traction and comfort.
While it can assist with light prying, it is primarily designed for nail removal. Use a dedicated pry bar for heavy demolition.
Apply a small amount of leather conditioner to keep the material supple and prevent cracking.
Use a light coat of oil and a fine-grit abrasive pad to gently remove surface oxidation, then wipe clean.
Check the strike face for dirt or finish buildup. If the face is worn smooth, use a wire brush to restore texture if applicable.
This tool is ready to use immediately upon arrival and requires no assembly. To maintain the leather grip, keep it dry and avoid prolonged exposure to rain or harsh chemical solvents. Periodically applying a high-quality leather conditioner can help maintain the suppleness of the grip and prevent the leather from hardening or cracking over time. Always inspect the face of the hammer for nicks or debris before use to ensure consistent striking accuracy.
