Setup, Compatibility & Care
For the best results, plant 'Rip Van Winkle' bulbs in the autumn in well-drained, fertile soil. Dig a hole roughly two to three times the depth of the bulb and place it with the pointed end facing upward. Ensure adequate spacing of about 10cm between bulbs to allow for proper airflow. Once planted, water them thoroughly to help settle the soil. During the growing season, keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. After the flowers have faded, allow the foliage to die back naturally for at least six weeks; this allows the bulb to store energy for next year's growth. Avoid mowing or cutting the leaves until they have turned yellow and withered.
