The Wilko 5m Functional Tape Measure is an ideal tool for homeowners, DIY beginners, and crafters who need a reliable, compact device for everyday measuring tasks. Its primary benefit is the dual-blade brake system that ensures the tape stays locked securely for precision, though its 5-meter length is best suited for indoor projects rather than large-scale construction or professional site work.

The blade is made of high-quality metal finished with a protective hardened acrylic coating for durability.
The compact design includes a sturdy clip allowing it to be attached to belts or tool pouches for quick access.
Yes, the acrylic coating makes it resistant to corrosion, though its 5-meter length is best for smaller garden areas.
Wipe the blade with a damp cloth followed by a dry cloth. Ensure it is completely dry before retracting it fully into the case.
While easy to use, this is a tool, not a toy; children should be supervised as the metal edges can be sharp when retracted quickly.
Ensure the dual-blade brake is fully engaged and check for debris inside the tape slot that might be blocking the mechanism.
Clean the blade surface to remove sticky residue or dirt, and ensure the blade is not bent or kinked, which can cause friction within the casing.
This tape measure is ready for use immediately out of the packaging. To care for the device, avoid allowing the blade to retract at high speeds, as this can damage the hook or the internal spring. Wipe the blade with a clean, dry cloth after use in dirty or dusty environments to maintain the integrity of the acrylic coating. While the tool is corrosion-resistant, it is best to store it in a cool, dry place to ensure the internal spring mechanism remains functional for years to come.
