Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Ensure the CPU or GPU surface and the heatsink contact area are clean.
- Apply a small amount of NT-H2 thermal paste to the center of the CPU IHS (Integrated Heat Spreader) or GPU die. A pea-sized amount is typically sufficient for most CPUs. For larger surfaces like AMD's TR4 socket, a more generous application may be needed.
- Carefully install the heatsink, ensuring even pressure is applied across the surface. The paste does not require pre-spreading and will spread evenly under the pressure of the heatsink.
Compatibility:
Noctua NT-H2 is compatible with virtually all modern CPUs and GPUs, including:
- CPUs: Intel LGA 1700, 1200, 115x, 20xx, AMD AM5, AM4, TR4, SP3, and older sockets.
- GPUs: NVIDIA GeForce series, AMD Radeon series.
- Other Devices: Laptops, game consoles (PS4/PS5, Xbox), and other devices requiring thermal interface material.
Care:
- Store the thermal paste in a cool, dry place. Noctua recommends a storage time of up to 3 years.
- To clean the paste from surfaces, use the provided NA-CW1 cleaning wipes. For stubborn residue, a lint-free cloth with isopropyl alcohol (IPA) may be used, but ensure surfaces are completely dry before reapplication.
