B-G Racing Bump Steer Gauge

Bump steer is the term used to describe the tendency of a wheel to steer itself (turn in or out) as it moves up and down through its suspension travel. It is an inherent characteristic of most suspension designs but can be problematic if excessive.

The gauge is attached to the suspension upright and measures the change in toe angle of the wheel as the suspension moves through its travel, using the digital dial indicator for precise readings.

PCD stands for 'Pitch Circle Diameter'. The multi-hole PCD plate has various bolt hole patterns with specific diameters, allowing it to adapt to different hub or upright mounting configurations.

The multi-hole PCD plate offers broad compatibility. However, you must ensure there are suitable mounting points on your vehicle's suspension upright or hub to attach the gauge.

Correcting excessive bump steer leads to improved vehicle stability, more predictable handling during cornering and braking, and can help reduce uneven tire wear.

It is recommended to check bump steer after significant suspension modifications, after repairs, or as part of routine performance checks, especially for track or competition vehicles.

Ensure the battery is correctly installed and has sufficient charge. Check if the indicator needs to be zeroed.

Verify that the correct bolts are used and tightened securely to the PCD plate. Ensure the mounting surface on the vehicle is clean and flat.

Re-zero the digital indicator before each measurement. Ensure the suspension is moving smoothly without binding. Check for any play in the vehicle's suspension components themselves.

Check for any obstructions or debris preventing the folding mechanism. Ensure all pivot points are clean and free from dirt.
