This Microconnect CAT5e U/UTP networking cable is designed for users needing a reliable and stable network connection for home, office, or entertainment systems. It offers convenient connectivity between network devices and supports data transfer rates up to 1000 Mbit/s. A key benefit is its latch protection, which safeguards the connector during installation in confined spaces, though its Copper-Clad Aluminium (CCA) conductor material might be a consideration for users requiring the absolute highest conductivity.

Cat5e cables are commonly used for standard networking tasks in home and small office environments, supporting connections for internet access, data transfer between devices, and connecting to network hardware like routers and switches.
U/UTP stands for Unshielded Twisted Pair. It means the cable consists of pairs of wires twisted together, but there is no overall metallic shielding around the pairs, making it more flexible and cost-effective for many applications.
The Cat5e standard is rated for speeds up to 1000 Mbit/s (Gigabit Ethernet). While it might handle higher frequencies, it is not certified or guaranteed to perform reliably at speeds beyond 1000 Mbit/s. For faster speeds, a Cat6 or higher cable is recommended.
CCA stands for Copper-Clad Aluminium. It means the cable's conductors are made of aluminum coated with a thin layer of copper. CCA cables are generally less expensive but offer slightly lower conductivity and flexibility compared to cables made with pure copper conductors.
Latch protection prevents the small plastic tab (latch) on the RJ-45 connector from breaking off when the cable is pulled through tight spaces or installed in crowded wall plates. This ensures the connector remains secure in its port.
This cable has a standard PVC jacket and is designed for indoor use. It is not rated for outdoor exposure to UV light, extreme temperatures, or moisture, which could degrade the cable's performance and lifespan.
Verify that both ends of the cable are securely plugged into the network ports. Check that the connected devices are powered on and configured for network operation. Try a different network cable to rule out cable failure.
Ensure the cable is not damaged and is free from sharp bends or kinks. Check if the connected devices support Gigabit Ethernet; if not, speeds will be limited by the device. Consider upgrading to a higher-standard cable (e.g., Cat6) if your network infrastructure supports it and you consistently experience bottlenecks.
Inspect the RJ-45 connector for any visible damage or bent pins. Ensure no debris is obstructing the port or the connector. The latch on the connector should engage securely; if it's damaged, the cable may need replacement.
