Product Information
Full details
The Zoom SCU-20 Soft Shell Case is designed for audio professionals and field recorders who need a reliable, lightweight solution to transport their gear safely. It offers excellent protection against minor impacts and scratches through integrated foam padding, though users should note it is a soft-shell design rather than a hardshell flight case, meaning it is intended for general travel rather than extreme heavy-duty shipping environments.

FAQs
Is the SCU-20 waterproof?
No, the case is water-resistant, protecting gear from light splashes or dust, but it should not be submerged in water.
Can this case fit my camera?
The SCU-20 is optimized for Zoom recorders; while it may fit small point-and-shoot cameras, the padding is specifically contoured for audio gear.
Does this case include a shoulder strap?
No, the case is designed with a convenient top-mounted carry handle for handheld transport.
What is the difference between the SCU-20 and SCU-40?
The SCU-40 is a larger model in the Zoom universal soft shell series intended for bulkier equipment setups.
Will the foam padding deteriorate over time?
The foam is durable, but avoid leaving the case in extreme heat or direct sunlight for extended periods to maintain the integrity of the material.
Troubleshooting
Zipper feels stiff or difficult to open
Ensure no fabric from the mesh pocket is caught in the zipper track and consider applying a dry lubricant if necessary.
Interior mesh pocket is stretching
Avoid overstuffing the mesh compartment; use it only for cables and small memory media to maintain the elasticity of the netting.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Lightweight and easy to carry
- Soft interior prevents scratches on device screens and finish
- Dedicated mesh storage for accessories
- Reliable zipper quality
- Compact footprint for packing
Cons
- Not a hard-shell case for high-impact protection
- Limited capacity for large microphones or booms
- No internal partitions for larger devices
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To setup your gear, simply open the zipper and place your recording device inside the cushioned central chamber. Ensure the device is positioned flat to allow the top padding to rest evenly against the screen or control panel. Store your small cables and memory cards within the mesh pocket to prevent them from rubbing against the recorder's body.
Care Instructions
- Wipe the exterior with a damp, lint-free cloth to remove dust or debris.
- Keep the zipper track clean and free of sand or grit to ensure smooth operation.
- Do not submerge the case in water, as it is designed for moisture resistance rather than waterproof submersion.
- Store in a cool, dry place when not in use for extended periods.
