While it prefers outdoors, you can grow it indoors provided you place it in a very bright, sunny south-facing window with excellent air circulation.

Rosemary is a low-nutrient plant. A light application of balanced liquid fertilizer once during the spring is usually sufficient.

It is generally hardy, but it should be protected from harsh, freezing winds or brought indoors during extreme winter temperatures to ensure survival.

Snip small sprigs from the outer branches using clean shears. Avoid taking more than a third of the plant at once to keep it healthy.

Insufficient sunlight is the most common cause. The essential oils that create the scent are produced most effectively in full sun.

Usually a sign of overwatering. Ensure the soil is well-draining and allow the plant to dry out between waterings.

The plant likely needs more light. Move it to a sunnier location to encourage tighter, thicker growth.

Check for root rot. If the soil is muddy, repot into fresh, dry soil and trim away any black, mushy roots.
