Supatool Bradawl & Gimlet Set - 2 Pieces

A bradawl is used to create a small starter hole to guide a screw or to prevent wood splitting. A gimlet is specifically designed to cut or start a thread in wood, making screw insertion easier.

These tools are designed and optimized for wood. Using them on harder materials like metal or plastic may damage the tool and yield poor results.

Store the set in a dry environment, ideally in its original packaging or a dedicated tool case, to protect the points and prevent corrosion.

This set contains two individual tools; replacement parts are not typically offered. If a tool is damaged, the set may need to be replaced.

Use the bradawl for making small pilot holes and marking precise points. Use the gimlet for starting screw threads cleanly in wood.

Keep the tips clean. If they become dull, they can be carefully sharpened on a fine-grit sharpening stone, maintaining the original point angle.

Ensure you are creating a pilot hole that is appropriately sized for the screw. For hardwoods, a slightly larger pilot hole may be beneficial. Apply steady, consistent pressure.

Check that the gimlet tip is clean and free from debris. Ensure you are applying downward pressure while rotating. If the tip is dull, it may require sharpening.

Wipe the moulded plastic grips with a dry cloth. Ensure your hands are dry before use. For very demanding tasks, consider using work gloves.
