FAQs
What does IP23 mean?
IP23 means the fixture is protected against water spray less than 60 degrees from vertical, making it suitable only for sheltered outdoor areas.
Can I use an LED bulb?
Yes, the Hereford lantern is fully compatible with LED bulbs as long as they have an E27 base and do not exceed the equivalent of a 60W output.
Is the chain length adjustable?
Yes, the drop can be adjusted between 405mm and 500mm to suit your ceiling height.
Is this lantern rust-proof?
It is crafted from die-cast aluminium for durability and comes with a 5-year anti-corrosion guarantee.
Does it come with a bulb?
No, the lantern requires 1 x E27 bulb which must be purchased separately.
Can I install this in an open garden?
No, due to the IP23 rating, it should only be installed in sheltered locations such as a porch, terrace, or pergola.
Troubleshooting
The light is flickering
Ensure the bulb is screwed in fully. If using a dimmer, verify that you are using a bulb specifically labeled as 'dimmable'.
The light won't turn on
Check the light bulb filament or the LED bulb functionality; replace with a known working bulb to rule out a faulty lamp.
Corrosion spots appearing
Clean the area gently with a mild soap and water solution. The product includes a 5-year anti-corrosion guarantee, so contact the manufacturer if the finish fails prematurely under normal conditions.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
Installation Requirements
Ensure that the mounting point is a sheltered ceiling. Because the unit is IP23 rated, it is protected against spraying water but is not waterproof; avoid installing it in open, unsheltered areas.
Bulb Compatibility
- Base Type: E27 (Screw fit)
- Max Wattage: 60W (or LED equivalent)
- Dimmable: Supported, provided a dimmable bulb is installed and your home wiring includes a compatible dimmer switch.
Care Instructions
- Periodically wipe the lantern with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust and spiderwebs.
- Avoid using abrasive cleaners, which could damage the black finish.
- Check the mounting chain annually to ensure it remains secure and free from debris.
