The TP-Link Tapo Solar-Powered Floodlight Security Camera Kit is an ideal solution for homeowners looking to secure outdoor areas like driveways, garages, or garden gates without the hassle of running electrical wires. This system offers 2K video clarity, advanced AI-based motion detection, and 360° tracking to keep your property protected in any weather conditions. One notable caveat is that while the solar panel provides significant energy independence, its efficiency depends on consistent sunlight exposure in your chosen installation location.

Yes, the camera will continue to record to the local microSD card even during a Wi-Fi outage.
Yes, it integrates seamlessly with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for voice control and live streaming.
You can view footage directly through the Tapo app using the microSD card playback or your cloud storage subscription.
The camera supports microSD cards up to 512 GB.
While it can be mounted on walls, poles, or ceilings, a height of 2-3 meters usually provides the best angle for AI motion detection.
Adjust the motion sensitivity settings in the Tapo app and ensure the detection zones are correctly configured for your property layout.
Check if the solar panel is blocked by shade or debris; ensure the camera is not constantly triggering due to high traffic areas.
Ensure the camera is within range of your router or consider using a Wi-Fi range extender to boost the signal strength at the installation point.
Installation is straightforward using the included mounting template and hardware. You can attach the solar panel directly to the camera or use the included extension cable to place the panel in a spot with better sun exposure. To maximize battery life, ensure the solar panel is positioned to receive direct sunlight for several hours a day. The camera is compatible with the Tapo app, which runs on Android 7.0 and iOS 13 or higher. For care, periodically wipe the camera lens and the solar panel surface with a clean, damp cloth to remove dust, debris, or bird droppings that may inhibit solar charging or video quality.
