Yes, the SmarTUBE X is designed to work with standard clincher rims. It is not intended for use in a tubeless setup.

The SmarTUBE X is made from thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), making it significantly lighter, more compact, and more puncture-resistant than traditional butyl inner tubes. It is also more elastic.

While ideal for urban and gravel, the 700x28-40mm size can be suitable for some road cycling applications where durability is a priority. However, for pure performance road racing, lighter latex or thin-wall butyl tubes might be preferred.

The SmarTUBE X takes up approximately 50% less space, making it an excellent choice for minimalist saddlebags or jersey pockets.

Pirelli offers specific patch kits designed for their SmarTUBE products. Standard butyl patches may not adhere correctly due to the TPU material.

Ensure the valve core is tightened and that the tube is not pinched between the tire bead and the rim.

Inspect the inside of the tire and rim for sharp objects, spoke ends, or burrs. Ensure the tire is properly seated and the tube is not being pinched during installation.

Slightly inflate the tube first to give it form. Avoid using excessive force; ensure the tube is not caught under the tire bead.
