Align the edge of the compass with the distance on your map. Use the appropriate scale (1:25K, 1:50K, 1:63K, mm, or inches) to measure the distance and determine the real-world equivalent.

Make sure you are away from any metal objects or electrical sources, which can interfere with the compass. If this does not work the compass may be damaged. Check the area for any strong magnetic fields.

Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the compass clean. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the acrylic.

The magnifying lens helps you see fine details on the map, such as contour lines, place names, and other small features.

The Karrimor Compass is durable, but prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures should be avoided. Store the compass in a pocket or bag to protect it from extreme heat or cold.
