Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Mounting: Securely attach the dash cam to your windshield, typically behind the rearview mirror, ensuring it has a clear view of the road. Use the provided adhesive mount or suction cup (if included).
- Power Connection: Connect the power cable to your vehicle's 12V auxiliary power outlet. For advanced features like Parking Mode and predictive threat detection, professional hardwiring is highly recommended to ensure continuous power without draining your car's battery.
- Memory Card: Insert a high-endurance microSD card (Class 10 or higher, U3 recommended) into the designated slot. Format the card via the dash cam's settings menu.
- App Pairing: Download the Nextbase iQ app on your smartphone. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your device via Wi-Fi and complete the setup process, customizing settings and activating remote features.
Compatibility
The Nextbase iQ Dash Cam is generally compatible with most 12V vehicle electrical systems. Ensure your vehicle has a suitable power source for the dash cam and, if hardwiring, consult a professional to confirm compatibility with your specific make and model.
Care & Maintenance
- Lens Cleaning: Regularly wipe the lens with a soft, lint-free cloth to ensure clear recordings. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
- Firmware Updates: Keep the dash cam's firmware updated via the companion app to ensure optimal performance, access new features, and benefit from bug fixes.
- Memory Card Management: Periodically check the health of your microSD card. High-endurance cards are designed for continuous recording, but may degrade over time. Replace as needed.
- Temperature: Avoid exposing the dash cam to extreme temperatures for prolonged periods, which can affect battery life and component performance. If possible, remove the device from your windshield in extremely hot conditions.
