Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Select healthy young brassica plants (cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, kale, Brussels sprouts, etc.).
- Gently place one collar around the base of the plant stem.
- Ensure the collar is positioned so its edge rests firmly against the soil surface, creating a seal.
- The cut in the collar should allow it to fit snugly without constricting the stem.
Compatibility:
These collars are designed for most common brassica varieties. They are compatible with both in-ground gardens and containers, provided there is sufficient space for the collar at the plant's base.
Care:
After the growing season, collars can be removed and cleaned with water. Store them in a dry place for reuse in subsequent seasons. The copper detailing may naturally oxidize over time, but this generally does not affect its pest-deterring properties.
