Store the candle in its original aluminum container with the lid sealed, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources.

Ensure the candle is placed in a location with minimal wind. Check that the Citriodiol content is still effective, which is generally maintained throughout the burn time. For larger areas, consider using multiple candles.

Trim the cotton wick to about 1/4 inch before lighting. If excessive smoking persists, extinguish the flame, allow it to cool, and re-trim the wick.
