These skip tooth blades are versatile and work well on wood, plastics, and other softer materials. They are particularly effective on thicker stock or when fast cutting and good chip clearance are needed.
The SA4950 assortment card includes 6 each of SA4110, SA4120, and SA4240 skip tooth blades, for a total of 18 blades.
These blades are primarily designed for wood and plastics. They are not recommended for cutting metal.
Consider the thickness of your material and the desired cut quality. Thinner blades with finer teeth are for more detailed work, while wider blades with more space between teeth (skip tooth) offer faster cutting and better chip clearance on thicker materials.
Skip tooth blades have wider spacing between the teeth and a larger gullet (the space between teeth). This design improves chip clearance, reduces heat buildup, and prevents clogging, especially in softer materials or thicker stock.
These Olson scroll blades are manufactured by Shesto Ltd.
The product weighs approximately 0.05 Pounds.
Ensure the blade is properly tensioned in the scroll saw. Avoid forcing the material; let the blade do the cutting. Check if the correct blade type is being used for the material and cut complexity.
Verify the blade is sharp and free from damage. Ensure the correct blade from the assortment is selected for the material. Check that the material is securely held and that the saw's hold-down foot is functioning correctly.
The skip tooth design should help, but if clogging occurs, ensure you are using the appropriate blade size for the material thickness. Reduce cutting speed slightly and allow the blade to clear chips more effectively. Keep the dust collection system on your scroll saw functioning.
These Olson scroll blades are designed to fit most standard scroll saws. Ensure your saw is unplugged before changing blades. Select the appropriate blade from the SA4950 assortment based on your material thickness and desired cut speed/finish. Install the blade securely according to your scroll saw's manual. Keep blades clean and dry when not in use to prevent rust. Inspect blades regularly for signs of wear or damage; replace immediately if compromised.
