Product Information

Full details

The Dylon Dye Pod in Smoke Grey is designed for homeowners and DIY enthusiasts looking to revitalize faded clothing or update the aesthetic of natural fabrics with minimal effort. Its primary benefit is the all-in-one, mess-free application that handles both dye and salt in a single pod, though it is important to note that it only works on natural fibers like cotton, linen, and viscose and will not affect synthetic materials like polyester or nylon.

FAQs

Can I use this on polyester?

No, Dylon Dye Pods are only effective on natural fabrics like cotton, linen, and viscose.

Will this ruin my washing machine?

No, the formula is specifically designed to be machine-safe and leaves no permanent residue behind.

Can I wash other clothes with the dyed item?

It is recommended to wash the dyed item separately or with similar colors for the first few washes to prevent any potential color transfer.

What happens if I use a cold wash instead of 40°C?

The dye requires the 40°C temperature to properly activate and bond with the fabric fibers. A cold wash will likely result in poor color retention.

Do I need to add salt?

No, the salt is already included within the Dylon Dye Pod.

Troubleshooting

The color is lighter than expected.

You may have exceeded the recommended 600g weight limit for a full-shade result, or the fabric may contain synthetic fibers which do not take the dye as well as natural fibers.

The dye is patchy.

Ensure the fabric is fully unfolded and damp before placing it in the machine, and avoid overcrowding the drum.

Pros and Cons

Extremely easy to use with no manual preparation required
Permanent color results that resist fading
Does not damage or stain the washing machine
Compatible with a wide range of natural fabrics

Cons

Will not dye synthetic materials such as polyester or nylon
Requires a 40°C wash cycle, which may not be suitable for all delicate items
Weight of fabric affects the depth of color achieved

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Prepare Fabric: Ensure the item is clean and damp. Do not use fabric softener.
Load Machine: Place the damp, unfolded fabric into the drum.
Add Dye: Remove the lid of the Dylon Dye Pod and place the pod directly on top of the fabric.
Run Cycle: Select a standard 40°C cycle. Do not use pre-wash or economy settings.
Post-Dye Care: Once finished, remove the pod shell, add detergent, and run another 40°C cycle to rinse the fabric and ensure all loose dye is cleared from the machine.

Note: Always check the care label of your garment to ensure it can withstand a 40°C wash.
