Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
Setting up the DGS-1008MP is straightforward due to its unmanaged nature:
- Connect the included AC power adapter to the switch and plug it into a power outlet.
- Connect your network devices (computers, routers, servers, IP cameras, etc.) to the switch's RJ-45 Ethernet ports using standard Ethernet cables.
- If connecting to a router or another network device, use a standard Ethernet cable to connect one of the switch's ports to the uplink port on your router.
Compatibility:
- Network Devices: Compatible with any standard Ethernet network device operating at 10/100/1000 Mbps.
- PoE Devices: Fully compatible with devices adhering to the IEEE 802.3af (PoE) and IEEE 802.3at (PoE+) standards. Ensure the total power draw of connected PoE devices does not exceed the switch's 140W PoE budget.
- Operating Systems: No specific OS drivers are required, as it functions at the hardware level.
Care:
- Environment: Place the switch in a dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight and sources of excessive heat or moisture. Operating temperature range is 0°C to 40°C (32°F to 104°F).
- Cleaning: Disconnect the power adapter before cleaning. Wipe the exterior of the switch with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using liquid cleaners or aerosols.
- Ventilation: Ensure the vents are not blocked to maintain proper airflow and prevent overheating, even though it's fanless.
