Setup, Compatibility & Care
This section covers how to get started with your lens, ensure compatibility, and maintain its performance over time.
Initial Setup
- Attach the Lens: Align the red dot on the lens barrel with the red dot on your Canon EOS R series camera's lens mount. Twist the lens clockwise until it clicks securely into place.
- Remove the Lens: While holding down the lens release button on your camera body, twist the lens counter-clockwise until it detaches.
- Lens Cap and Rear Cap: Always keep the front and rear lens caps on when the lens is not in use to protect the glass elements from dust and scratches.
Compatibility
This lens is designed exclusively for the Canon RF mount system. It is compatible with all Canon EOS R series mirrorless cameras (e.g., EOS R, RP, R5, R6, R7, R10). It is not compatible with Canon EF or EF-S mount DSLR cameras, even with an adapter.
Care and Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, lint-free microfiber cloth specifically designed for optics to clean dust and fingerprints from the lens elements. For stubborn smudges, use a small amount of lens cleaning fluid applied to the cloth, not directly to the lens. Always use a blower brush first to remove loose particles before wiping.
- Storage: Store the lens in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Use desiccants or silica gel packs in your camera bag if you live in a humid climate to prevent mold growth.
- Handling: Avoid dropping or subjecting the lens to harsh impacts. The internal optical and electronic components are delicate.
- Environmental Protection: While not weather-sealed, avoid exposing the lens to heavy rain, excessive dust, or sand. If unavoidable, use a rain cover or protective gear.
