The Hemline Raglan Shaped Shoulder Pads are an essential tool for DIY sewing enthusiasts and professional tailors looking to improve the structural integrity of garments with raglan or dropped shoulder designs. These pads effectively cover the shoulder bone to provide a smooth, professional silhouette without introducing unwanted bulk. While they excel at creating a polished finish for custom clothing, users should note that they are specifically engineered for raglan and dropped shoulder styles and may not provide the desired fit for traditional set-in sleeve garments.

No, these are specifically shaped for raglan and dropped shoulders and will likely sit incorrectly in a standard set-in sleeve.
No, they are designed to provide structure without adding excessive bulk, creating a natural rather than an artificial silhouette.
You can attach small snaps or hook-and-loop fasteners to the garment shoulder and the pad so they can be removed for cleaning.
If sewn in, they can typically be washed with the garment, but it is recommended to hand wash or use a delicate cycle to prevent the padding from deforming.
The pads are crafted from cotton, which is soft against the skin and easy to sew through.
Ensure the pads are centered perfectly over the shoulder bone and that the seam allowance is flattened properly before stitching.
If using detachable methods, check that the fasteners are securely anchored to both the garment lining and the pad. If using permanent installation, add more tacking stitches.
To install as a permanent fixture, center the pad along the shoulder seam and secure it by hand-stitching through the seam allowance. For a detachable option, attach small snaps or hook-and-loop tape to both the garment shoulder and the shoulder pad, allowing you to remove them before washing.
Compatibility is highest with raglan and dropped shoulder patterns. To care for these pads, it is recommended to remove them from the garment before heavy machine washing if possible. If sewn in permanently, ensure you follow the garment’s specific laundry instructions, ideally opting for a gentle cycle or hand washing to maintain the shape of the pads.
