FAQs

Are screws included with the hinge?

No, this product does not include fixings. You will need to purchase screws appropriate for your door and frame material.

Can these be used for heavy gates?

No, these are 'Light' T hinges suitable for doors up to 300mm wide. They are not intended for heavy or high-traffic gates.

Are they rust-proof?

They feature a durable epoxy black coating that provides high corrosion resistance, though periodic cleaning is recommended for outdoor longevity.

Can I use these on both left and right-hand doors?

Yes, the design is universal and fully compatible with both left and right-hand door configurations.

Do I need three hinges for a tall door?

Yes, if the door height exceeds 2130mm, it is recommended to install a third hinge to prevent the door from warping over time.

Troubleshooting

Hinge is squeaking after installation

Apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant to the hinge pin area to reduce friction.

Door is sagging or not closing flush

Check that the hinges are perfectly aligned vertically; if the door is tall, you may need a third hinge for extra support.

Finish is scratching during installation

Use a soft-tipped screwdriver and ensure screws are the correct size to prevent them from slipping and marking the epoxy coating.

Pros and Cons

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Before installation, ensure you have the appropriate screw type for your specific mounting surface (e.g., wood screws for timber frames).

Preparation: Measure and mark the hinge positions on both the door and the frame.
Pilot Holes: Drill small pilot holes to prevent the wood from splitting during the final screw insertion.
Mounting: Align the hinge and drive the screws through the strap holes into the door, then secure the plate to the frame.
Maintenance: Periodically check screws for tightness. The epoxy coating is weather-resistant, but wiping the hinges down with a soft, damp cloth once a season helps maintain the finish and removes debris that could lead to abrasion.
