Softshell Gilet - Black

The gilet provides core warmth with its microfleece lining and softshell outer, making it excellent for cool to mild conditions. For very cold weather, it is best used as a mid-layer under a warmer, insulated jacket.

The durable water-repellent (DWR) finish is designed to last through regular use. However, its effectiveness can decrease over time with washing and wear. Reapplication of a DWR treatment can restore its performance.

While it offers warmth and some weather resistance, its primary design is for casual outdoor activities. For high-intensity running, you might find it lacks the breathability and moisture-wicking properties of dedicated running apparel.

The zipped hand pockets are suitable for securing small essentials such as keys, a mobile phone, or a wallet, preventing them from falling out during activity.

You can use commercially available DWR treatment sprays or washes designed for outdoor clothing. Follow the product instructions carefully for application, usually involving washing and then tumble drying or ironing to activate the treatment.

A softshell gilet typically offers better wind resistance and a degree of water repellency compared to a standard fleece gilet, while still maintaining good warmth and flexibility.

Ensure you are wearing appropriate base layers. If the issue persists, consider if this is the correct size for your build and intended layering.

The gilet is water repellent, not waterproof. For heavy rain, use a waterproof outer layer. The water-repellent finish may also diminish over time; re-treatment may be necessary.

Gently try to move the zipper up and down. Ensure no fabric is caught in the teeth. If stiffness persists, a small amount of wax or graphite lubricant can help.
