Setup, Compatibility & Care
To set up the AT8035, ensure you have a high-quality balanced XLR cable. If your recording device does not provide 11V–52V phantom power, install a fresh AA battery by unscrewing the microphone body. When mounting, use a dedicated shock mount to prevent handling noise from reaching the capsule, especially when using a boom pole. For maintenance, keep the microphone in a dry, dust-free environment when not in use. If working in high-wind conditions, an external foam or 'dead cat' windscreen is highly recommended to protect the capsule from turbulent air, as the internal design is optimized for acoustic rejection rather than wind mitigation. Always check the battery level before field sessions if not relying on phantom power.
