Make sure the canopy is clear of obstructions. Try pressing the button firmly, or if necessary, gently push the ribs towards the center while pressing the button.

Inspect the canopy for tears. If the damage is minor, you may be able to repair it with waterproof tape. For more severe damage, consider replacing the umbrella.
