Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure your planter lasts through multiple seasons, follow these setup and maintenance tips:
- Lining: Even though there is a drainage hole, use a permeable fabric or plastic planter liner to protect the wood from direct contact with damp compost.
- Placement: Position the planter on a flat, stable surface. The bottom diameter is 30.5cm, which provides a solid footprint for stability.
- Seasonal Care: As this is a natural wood product, expect some weathering over time. You may apply a wood preservative suitable for outdoor planters if you wish to maintain the wood quality throughout harsh winter months.
- Handling: Use the two side handles for positioning, but avoid lifting the barrel by the handle when it is fully saturated with wet soil to prevent straining the wood mounting points.
