The Ancol Viva Retractable Lead is designed for dog owners seeking to provide their pets with more freedom during walks. Its key benefit is the 5-metre reach, allowing for a comfortable walking distance. A potential caveat is that retractable leads require user vigilance to ensure safety. This lead features a durable ABS plastic case, a comfortable Comfygrip handle, and a one-button control for easy retraction and locking.

The lead features a 5-metre poly-weave tape, providing a substantial range for your dog.
The single button allows you to easily lock the lead at your desired length or release it to allow your dog more freedom. Press down to lock, and release to allow retraction.
The Ancol Viva Retractable Lead is available in Small, Medium, and Large sizes, and some variants have specific weight limits (e.g., up to 50kg). Choose the size and capacity appropriate for your dog's breed and strength.
Wipe the ABS plastic case with a damp cloth. If the tape is dirty, clean it with mild soap and water, then allow it to air dry completely before retracting.
This means the product has undergone rigorous testing by an independent third-party (Intertek) to ensure its durability and reliability under extreme conditions.
Retractable leads are generally not recommended for training purposes, especially for dogs that pull, as they can create inconsistent tension and are less effective for teaching lead manners. It's best suited for casual walks where more freedom is desired.
The lead is made with a poly-weave tape and features an ergonomic ABS plastic case and a sturdy trigger hook.
Check for any obstructions or twists in the tape. Ensure the lead is not wet or dirty; clean and dry thoroughly. If the issue persists, the internal mechanism may require professional attention.
Gently clean the button area to remove any dirt or debris. Ensure the lead is fully extended and retracted a few times to loosen the mechanism. Avoid forcing the button.
Ensure the collar or harness ring is not bent or damaged. Check that the trigger hook itself is free from dirt or rust. If damaged, it should be replaced.
Inspect the casing for any signs of significant damage. If the casing is compromised, cease use immediately for safety reasons and consider replacing the lead.
Setup: The Ancol Viva Retractable Lead is ready for use straight out of the packaging. Simply attach the trigger hook to your dog's collar or harness securely. Ensure the hook is fully engaged.
Compatibility: This lead is suitable for dogs of various sizes, with specific models available for Small, Medium, and Large dogs, and weight limits indicated for heavier variants. Always choose a size appropriate for your dog's build and strength.
Care: To maintain the lead's performance, keep the internal mechanism clean and free from debris. Periodically wipe the ABS plastic case with a damp cloth. Avoid submerging the lead in water. If the tape becomes soiled, gently clean it with a mild soap and water solution and allow it to dry completely before retracting. Store in a dry place when not in use.
