The Audio-Technica VM740ML Cartridge is a high-end model featuring a Microlinear stylus in an aluminium die-cast alloy body. It is a premier 700 Series model in Audio-Technica's new VM cartridge line, incorporating advanced technology. The VM740ML is equipped with dual magnets for outstanding channel separation and extended frequency response. Its MicroLine stylus traces the record groove with incredible accuracy, providing nuanced audio reproduction. The stylus's multilevel shape also offers better wear resistance and reduces wear on your records. This cartridge includes mounting hardware. Key specifications include a frequency response of 20-27,000 Hz, channel separation of 28 dB at 1 kHz, a vertical tracking angle of 23 degrees, and a vertical tracking force of 1.8-2.2 g (2.0 g standard). The stylus is a Nude square shank with a MicroLine shape (2.2 x 0.12 mil), attached to an aluminum tapered pipe cantilever. It features paratoroidal coils for improved generating efficiency and a center shield plate between channels to reduce crosstalk. The die-cast aluminum alloy housing minimizes vibration and acts as a natural electrical shield. The cartridge weighs 8.0 g and has dimensions of 17.3 mm H x 17.0 mm W x 28.2 mm D. The replacement stylus is the VMN40ML.
